ABOUT INSTITUTE:

Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research (IIAMR, Bangalore) is approved by Government of Karnataka, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Recognised by Central Council of Indian Medicine - New Delhi, India.


IIAMR lies nestled amidst great scenic beauty within the Bangalore Palace Compound. Though within the city, it is away from the tenacious onslaughts of pollution and is still in pace with the modern urban life. The Institution offers students an excellent climate necessary for ample and proper physical, intellectual and spiritual growth. The college has established an impressive reputation for itself. Each student is a confident, articulate, responsible, young achiever once he or she steps out of the Institute.



Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research has two Campuses

a) The city campus is a compact collection of eco friendly buildings with the royal splendor of the Maharaja's palace and is situated within the Bangalore palace.
b) The other campus is situated amongst one of the most beautiful landscapes and is 22 kms away from the city. The campus is about 30 acres forming an ideal backdrop for the quiet and effective study. Both enjoy good transport facilities.

Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research's fundamental mission is propagation, advancement and dissemination of Ayurveda, the indigenous medicine in order to provide global standards of excellence in the fields of education and research in Ayurveda.


During 1996-97, the Trust established Ayurvedic Medical College in the name of "Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research", with the motto of introducing the ancient and highly scientific, holistic method of Indian systems of medicine.

* Establishing our Research and Development Centre in Ayurveda at the international level to manufacture and market pure Ayurvedic medicines all over the world

* Collaborating with Universities abroad.
* Establishing the best herbal garden for Research Orientation and preparation of medicine to export and for free distribution to the poor.
* Organizing Seminars at National and International levels.
* Creating our own Web Site to benefit the Students, Patients and Researchers abroad.

ACCOMMODATION:
The institute provides separate hostel facilities for the male and female students.

OTHER FACILITIES:
The institute has a steam chamber, lab facilities, x-ray unit, an operation theatre, a well stocked library and computer centre in the Institute. There are various options for the students after completing the course. They can join central and state government services or set up their own ayurvedic clinic. The students of this college actively participate in various national and international seminars on ayurveda. They conduct rural health camps and child health care programs at various villages of Karnataka.

The institute also has a research centre where various types of ayurvedic medicines are prepared under the supervision of experts. The Institute included an out-patient department and 100-bed Hospital for the practical training of students. We have treated many chronic cases such as coronary heart problems, diabetes, skin disorders, allergies, psoriasis, gangrene, sinus and the like," says the principal Dr. Muralidhara. It has the following departments: Surgery, ENT, Diabetes, Pediatrics, Laboratory and Toxicology. They also provide snakebite treatment and well known leech treatment.
